A little late to the article response train here, and while I do understand what you're referring to with escapism and entertainment (something which this show is obviously aiming to be), I would actually disagree that the show needs to be purely this. What I lament about the most recent MCU entries is that they do sidestep accountability for light hearted fun. As if the Snap was too heavy a topic so now instead of exploring the rich territory of the emotional fallout, the MCU direction is one of diluted responsibility.

To give another example, accountability was something the MCU was absolutely heading for with Civil War, Winter Soldier and, to some extent, Black Panther. Essentially films about consequences to actions. The culmination of which being Infinity War. Since then, however, it seems that Marvel has reverted to a simpler form of storytelling, foregoing/sidestepping narrative complexity or moral ambiguity for easy redemptions (Hawkeye, WS, Wanda) and fun adventures. Not inherently bad but as Alex stated, often stand ins for accountability.

It's just interesting considering the direction the MCU appeared to be heading in and that the few entries that attempt to delve into these murkier waters tend to be the most beloved. But I get what you mean, it was kind of onvious from the get-go that Hawkeye was only going to be good for light hearted fun.
